Another School launched the My Book Buddy project!
We are very proud that together wih MyBookBuddy foundation we could already provide the third school in the Mombasa regio with well filled class book cases! This time it was the turn of the New Furaha Primary School in Kikambala. A 300 pupils school in a very poor area in Kilifi county.
Moringa: Natural food supplement for the children of Port Reitz School
Maendeleo provides the Port Reitz school with Moringa powder. This powder is added to the regular meals of the pupils. The leaves’ of the Moringa tree contain enormous nutritional value. They are chockfull vitamins, minerals and protein.
Maendeleo Education Program
In 2017 Maendeleo started the Maendeleo Education Program.We offer bright students from underprivileged families the opportunity to study at secondary education, college or university. The program does not only support the students financially but they also get personal guidance from mentors. In the first year the program could offer 15 students to continue their studies in secondary school. We are proud that this number could almost be doubled in 2018.
Project My Book Buddy expands!
Thanks to a special donation from the recycling shop De Spullewaard in Zaltbommel, we are making again great progress with the My Book Buddy project in 2018. Soon the New Furaha Primary School will have a school library.
Maendeleo Foundation is now a CBF recognized charity
March 2018 Maendeleo Foundation was recognized as a charity by the CBF (Central Bureau on Fundraising), and entitled to use the CBF logo, which we are very proud of. Organizations with that quality mark comply with very stringent quality requirements, contribute to a better world, are closely reviewed, spend funds trustworthy and their accountability is monitored every year. Indeed, we spend every Euro carefully, and report on the progress of our projects annually.

New Color Printer for Port Reitz School
The Port Reitz School is busy with the national transition to a new curriculum system for primary schools.For this new curriculum the Port Reitz School needed a good color printer, as more and more teaching material has to be taken from the internet.Therefore we purchased a good robust laser color printer for the school during our last visit in March 2018. The school staff were very happy that now it will be possible to make plenty of good prints
MAENDELEO BOARD EXPANDED
Already for some time a need was felt for more board members. We can proudly announce that Lisan Bellers and Willem Zweers recently joined our board.
First school libraries My Book Buddy launched
The launch of the special MyBookBuddy class libraries at the Diplomat Community Education Centre and Brighton’s Academy in Changamwe, Mombasa were a great success!
Playground Equipment for Green Croft Rescue School
They were delighted with the playground equipment, the 150 pupils of the Green Croft Rescue School in Mtwapa.
Proud! Port Reitz wins debate contest!
For the fourth year in a row we organized a debate contest in the district of Changamwe, Mombasa in cooperation with the Magongo Quantum Youth Group. It was a great success.
New books for Port Reitz School
We support the Port Reitz School for handicapped children already since 2010. Recently we bought a lot of textbooks for classes 7 and 8.
New Project: MY BOOK BUDDY
At the end of September will be the official launch of our new project, in collaboration with the Dutch foundation My Book Buddy.
